Raxio Data Centres laid the first stone of a new Tier III data centre at the MozParks Beluluane Industrial Park in the Maputo province. Raxio Mozambique will be a facility of up to 1.5 MW of the IT capacity and will play a crucial part in the country’s digital connectivity.
“It’s a new era for MozParks. The Tier III DataCenter is an essential investment and a step forward to the development of our country,” said Onorio Manuel, MozParks General Manager. “MozParks Beluluane Industrial Park is honoured to host the Raxio Data Centres and is committed to fully support this project in achieving success in Mozambique,” he added.
Raxio Mozambique’s facility in the Maputo Province will be the fourth data centre in the Raxio Group portfolio, which includes Raxio Uganda, Raxio Ethiopia, and Raxio Kinshasa in the DRC.
“Setting up Raxio Mozambique comes at an interesting time for the country. The time when the country’s digital development is accelerating and we are here to contribute our grain of sand”, said Robert Mullins, CEO of Raxio Group. “This centre will be a hub of connectivity with the local, regional and international content. We will offer public and private companies a new era of data storage” he added.
The Governor of the Maputo Province, Júlio Parruque, officiated the ceremony and declared the beginning of the construction of the new data centre. He welcomed the transformation of the digital landscape and internet experience in Mozambique.
