Building Stronger Environmental Compliance at Beluluane Industrial Park

What does it take for industries to grow responsibly while maintaining environmental compliance? For companies operating at Beluluane Industrial Park, the answer starts with understanding regulatory requirements and continuously improving their environmental performance.

To strengthen environmental compliance across Beluluane Industrial Park, MozParks partnered with AQUA to host a workshop for companies operating within the park. The session provided a platform for participants to better understand Mozambique’s environmental regulatory framework and the responsibilities of businesses in maintaining compliance.

“Environmental responsibility starts with knowledge and grows through collaboration. This workshop is one of the ways we support companies in building stronger and more sustainable practices,” states Katya Coelho, Sustainability Development Coordinator of MozParks.

Participants gained practical insights into key legal requirements, including Decree No. 80/2023, the environmental audit process, and common compliance challenges faced by companies. The workshop also explored good environmental management practices and actionable measures organisations can adopt to improve their environmental performance and reduce environmental risks.

“Taking care of the environment today means leaving a sustainable legacy for future generations. Environmental audits are an important tool to help companies strengthen their environmental responsibility and continuously improve their performance”, stated Miguel Matine, a representative of AQUA.

Beyond the technical discussions, the workshop created an opportunity for participants to exchange experiences, clarify concerns, and learn from one another, while reinforcing the value of collaboration in building a more sustainable industrial sector.

Through initiatives like this, MozParks continues to support businesses operating within its parks with the knowledge and tools needed to grow responsibly, ensuring that industrial development and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.

From Entrepreneurship to Industry: AISEM Explores Opportunities at Beluluane Industrial Park

Mozambique’s industrial growth is creating new opportunities for local businesses, and women entrepreneurs are determined to be part of that journey.

On 17 June, members of the Associação da Inclusão Social e Económica da Mulher (AISEM) visited Beluluane Industrial Park to gain a deeper understanding of how women-led businesses can participate in the dynamic ecosystems. Representing sectors ranging from technology and transport to consulting, beauty, logistics, and social development, the delegation explored opportunities for investment, business growth, and participation in industrial value chains.

As part of the visit, the delegation toured Raxio Data Centre Mozambique and Beleza, gaining firsthand insight into the diverse industries operating within the park. The visits provided an opportunity to learn more about business operations, investment requirements, and the potential opportunities available for local enterprises to engage with companies already established in the industrial ecosystem.

“We believe that the economic empowerment of women has a significant impact on communities. Through visits such as this one, we seek to connect women entrepreneurs with opportunities that can help them grow their businesses, build partnerships, and contribute to Mozambique’s development,” states  AISEM President, Alima Hussein Sauji.

Beyond the site visits, AISEM members explored what it takes for local businesses to connect with large-scale industry. Particular attention was given to supplier opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises, future developments within the MozParks ecosystem, and the role women entrepreneurs can play in supporting and benefiting from Mozambique’s industrial growth.
