MozParks Highlights the Importance of Regional Cooperation at SEZ Conference in South Africa

Durban, South Africa – 21 July 2026 – MozParks attended the 2nd International Special Economic Zones Infrastructure and Investment Conference in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, at a time when regional cooperation and cross-border investment are becoming increasingly important to Africa’s industrial development.

Representing the company, CEO Onório Manuel participated in a panel discussion on Cross-Border Collaboration through Spatial Development, where speakers explored how African countries can work together to strengthen trade, attract investment and make the most of opportunities created by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Many of the discussions focused on a shared challenge facing countries across the continent: how to create stronger connections between markets, make it easier for businesses to operate across borders and turn regional opportunities into tangible economic growth.

“Mozambique and South Africa have always shared a very strong economic relationship, and there is still significant potential to strengthen that partnership through industrialisation. Our focus should be on creating an environment where businesses can grow, jobs can be created, and communities can benefit from economic activity. Strong industrial sectors are essential for sustainable economic growth by creating employment opportunities, supporting local businesses and the regional community. Special Economic Zones are an important part of this process, creating the conditions that allow industries to grow and contribute to national development,” said Manuel.

For MozParks, participation in the conference formed part of its ongoing efforts to engage with regional stakeholders and contribute to conversations shaping the future of economic zones and industrial development in Africa.
