Four industrial parks in the Montepuez, Balama, Ancuabe and Palma districts, known as CaboDelgadoParks (CD Parks), will form a hub for industrial and social development in the province.
CD Parks is a joint initiative between the Cabo Delgado P
rovincial Executive Council, represented by the Cabo Delgado Economic Development Promotion centre (CPDE), who are the owners of the industrial parks, and MozParks , a private-public company that will be developing and operating them.
Yesterday the governor of Cabo Delgado, Valige Tauabo unveiled the project at the launching ceremony in Pemba. “Starting from 2023 these four industrial parks will bring together 300 local and international companies and create more than 20,000 jobs in the next 5 years”, said the governor. “This project will encourage the local private sector to explore business opportunities in creating Supply Chains of goods and services linked to the large companies in ExtractiveIndustries.
Each park will be linked to an #anchor, a giant industrial enterprise, that welcomes creating local supply chains, seeing it as a positive impact to its core business. Mozparks has already developed similar models with MOZAL, S.A. in Beluluane and Kenmare Moma Processing (Mauritius) Ltd in Topuito.
CD Parks will offer a safe business environment with a developed infrastructure, industrial and residential real estate premisses, one-stop solution support for local and international investors, business facilities and training programmes for employees.
General Director at MozParks , Onorio Manuel, emphasised that developing sustainable circular economies is high on the company’s agenda. “At the CD Parks we are aiming to manufacture and use biofuel and encourage carbon reduction in our industrial activities,” he added.
