Maputo Business Chambers join forces to rebuild Djuba School

The children of Djuba Primary School were elated with the addition of two brand new classrooms, a rainwater collection system and new sanitation block at their school premises in Djuba, Matola Rio. An initiative led by Beluluane Industrial Park, the upgrades were completed in collaboration with the bilateral business chambers of Maputo. The chambers represent more than 10 different countries including The United States of America, South Africa, Italy, Portugal, Brasil, Switzerland, France, Spain and Germany – these will soon form part of a newly established Federation of Chambers of Commerce.

A learner representative speaking at the inauguration expressed their gratitude for the fact that they no longer have to study outdoors and have access to better sanitary and drinking-water facilities.

Member of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, Alexandre de Ascenção commented to the importance of joining forces to make change. Speaking on behalf of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, De Ascenção said that the bilateral business chambers and Beluluane Industrial Park would continue to support the school.

Beluluane Industrial Park representative, Evaristo Madime said: “It has been a priviledge for Beluluane Industrial Park to have facilitated this project. We continue to place education and training high on our agenda. By investing in our communities, we hope to contribute towards the development of a more skilled workforce in Maputo Province.”

Madime commented that the district is situated in one of the fastest growing, industrialised and economically active parts of Mozambique, makig available opportunities for the next generation of workers. He stressed in addition, Beluluane Industrial Park is offering an internship programme aimed at training young Mozambicans (aged 18 and older) through vocational training and paid internships.
