Beluluane Industrial Park Celebrates 24 Years of Industrial Growth and Investment
Beluluane Industrial Park (BIP), one of Mozambique’s leading industrial zones, proudly marked its 24th anniversary on September 12th. Established in 2000 alongside Mozal Aluminium, the park has grown into a crucial engine for Mozambique’s industrial sector. Now a part of MozParks and the ASEZA network, BIP is home to more than 60 companies from 18 different countries, having attracted over $3 billion in investments to date.
MozParks’ Business Model: Anchor Companies at the Core of Growth
MozParks operates on a unique business model focused on large anchor companies that attract their suppliers and service providers into the parks. This model has been key to the success of Beluluane Industrial Park, where Mozal Aluminium has drawn in a network of suppliers, logistics companies, and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). By clustering these businesses, MozParks creates thriving ecosystems that generate employment, support local industries, and promote sustainable economic growth.
MozParks is replicating this successful model across other regions, establishing industrial parks where large corporations and their networks can collaborate and grow, benefiting both the economy and the local communities.
Topuito Industrial Park: Expanding Opportunities in Northern Mozambique
As part of its expansion, MozParks is developing Topuito Industrial Park (TIP) in northern Mozambique’s Nampula province. Anchored by Kenmare, one of the world’s largest mineral sands producers, TIP is set to host a wide array of industries, including suppliers to Kenmare and businesses in agro-processing and other sectors.
Currently, 215 hectares of the park are under development, with future expansion plans in place. The park provides an ideal environment for companies seeking to establish themselves in this resource-rich region, making Topuito a vital component of MozParks’ strategy to foster economic development in northern Mozambique.
Cabo Delgado Parks: A Joint Development for Regional Growth
MozParks is also focused on developing Cabo Delgado Parks, a network of six industrial parks and a logistics base in Pemba, in collaboration with the province of Cabo Delgado. While the province owns the parks, MozParks will oversee their development and future operations. This initiative aims to create an interconnected industrial hub that promotes regional economic growth and generates youth employment.
These parks will accommodate businesses from various sectors, including energy, construction, and services, thereby supporting economic diversification and long-term regional stability. The logistics base in Pemba will enhance infrastructure and connectivity, further boosting business operations in northern Mozambique.
Benefits and Business Opportunities at MozParks
Businesses that join MozParks benefit from fully serviced industrial zones strategically positioned near key infrastructure, such as ports and highways. This allows for logistical efficiency and reduced operational costs. The proximity to anchor companies like Mozal Aluminium in Beluluane and Kenmare in Topuito creates a collaborative ecosystem where businesses can integrate into supply chains and forge valuable partnerships.
MozParks also offers extensive business support, ranging from administrative to operational services, ensuring that companies can establish and expand with ease. The parks are designed to cater to a wide range of sectors, including manufacturing, agro-processing, logistics, and energy, making them attractive to both large corporations and SMEs.
