The northern region of the country is set to experience a new wave of industrial development following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ADIN and MozParks. This partnership is what lays the foundation for Parques do Norte, an initiative that will establish industrial parks designed to connect strategic projects with local businesses, while ensuring communities directly benefit from the growth taking place in the region.
“Parques do Norte is a decisive step in unlocking the potential of Northern Mozambique by creating supplier hubs that will generate jobs and attract long-term investment,” said Onorio Manuel, General Director of MozParks.
At the heart of this initiative is a vision to integrate small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) into larger economic activities. By clustering businesses around big projects, strengthening local value chains, generating employment opportunities, and fostering community development.
The partnership outlines a series of priorities, including the development of SME villages, the promotion of local content, and the creation of pathways for youth through internships and entrepreneurship programs. ADIN will also support MozParks in attracting new investors, further positioning the northern provinces as an emerging hub for industrial growth.
President of ADIN, Jacinto Loureiro, emphasized that with this MoU, ADIN and MozParks are not only promoting industrialization but also laying the groundwork for inclusive, sustainable development that empowers businesses, creates jobs, and improves livelihoods across the northern region.
New Legal Framework in Cabo Delgado Mandates Extractive Industry Suppliers to Operate from Industrial Parks
Within the Parques do Norte vision, Cabo Delgado has taken the lead in shaping a regulatory environment that ensures industrial growth is inclusive and organized. Cabo Delgado Parks, an initiative of the Provincial Government of Cabo Delgado in partnership with MozParks, is establishing six industrial parks across the province to host suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers connected to large-scale projects.
To reinforce this effort, the Provincial Government has formally approved a new legal framework that requires suppliers and service providers linked to extractive industry anchor projects to be based within designated industrial parks and logistics bases. This framework emphasizes the importance of operating in structured industrial environments, where infrastructure, security, and services are delivered in a coordinated way.
Companies serving extractive industries are encouraged to contact Cabo Delgado Parks early to secure their space inside the parks, ensuring compliance with the framework and positioning themselves to benefit from the region’s industrial growth (info@cabodelgadoparks.com, +258 84 757 1314).
