In MozParks we pride ourselves on being more than just a business, as we are constantly seeking for new ways to contribute to a more sustainable future and enhancing positively on the care we have for the planet.
As we celebrate International Clean Energy Day, we are proud to share how we have taken a bold step to reduce our carbon footprint – the MozParks Head Office, located in Av. Marginal in Maputo is now powered by solar energy. This project was implemented by MozParks’ team of engineers and architects, led by our colleague Diana Amorim and our partners Logos Industries, who designed and installed a 15kW solar power system tailored to our energy needs. By combining the solar panels with hybrid energy technology we are setting an example of how business can embrace clean energy solutions without compromising operational efficiency.
With an average of over 300 sunny days each year, Mozambique provides ideal conditions for solar energy projects. From its vast open spaces to abundant natural resources, Mozambique has everything needed to become a leader in clean energy innovation.
Our General Director, Onorio Manuel, emphasized the significance of this step: “Mozambique has immense potential to lead in renewable energy adoption. By embracing solar energy, MozParks aims to inspire others to harness the power of the sun to build a cleaner, more sustainable future.”
Building on this initiative, we are planning to establish solar power plants in all of our industrial parks, starting with Mozal – Beluluane Industrial Park and Kenmare – Topuito Industrial Park, with others to follow.
Another example of our commitment to sustainable progress is the African Green Economy Secretariat (AGES) which was launched recently. Driven by our parent company, ASEZA – African Sustainable Economic Zone Alliance, this initiative highlights sustainable and innovative projects across the African continent and serves as a knowledge platform, which unites stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to advance the green economy projects.
We’re proud to be powered entirely by the sun. And we hope our journey inspires other organizations to take steps toward embracing renewable energy and making sustainability a core part of their story.
