When heavy rains swept across parts of southern Mozambique in recent weeks, communities in Matola Rio once again found themselves facing the difficult reality of seasonal flooding. Homes were affected, essential belongings were lost, and many families were left in urgent need of support.
In response, MozParks collaborated with companies based at Beluluane Industrial Park to support the local relief efforts. As part of their ongoing engagement with surrounding communities, the park’s business community contributed to the response coordinated by municipal authorities, reinforcing existing partnerships during a period of increased need.
The support focused on practical, immediate needs. Working in coordination with the Municipality of Matola Rio, essential goods identified as priority items for affected families were delivered to help households begin to recover. The donation was formally handed over at the Municipality and received by its President, Abdul Gafur Issufo.

During the handover, President Issufo acknowledged the continued solidarity demonstrated by companies from Beluluane Industrial Park. He noted that seasonal flooding remains a recurring challenge in the region and highlighted that many families are still in urgent need of assistance. According to the Municipality, the donated items will be distributed through its established relief mechanisms to ensure they reach the households most affected.
MozParks also extended its appreciation to the Municipality of Matola Rio for its coordination and to Raxio and Fluid Power Automation for contributing to the effort. Through this collaboration, the park’s business community continues to show that its role extends beyond industry it is also about standing with communities when it matters most.
